The Italian Ministry of Culture (MiBAC) has launched a stylish app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch (see here). Apart from an online guide there is a facility to buy a virtual ticket for the top tourist attraction in Rome.

India Express has a story about a tablet PC that the Indian Human Resource Development Ministry hope will eventually sell for just $10! Sketchy details so far but it look interesting. I wonder if BECTA could come up with something like that? Oh no, the just been abolished.

More competition for the iHype

It's been around for a while but I've only just seen this prototype from ASUS. It's a 12 inch tablet with a docking station that turns into a laptop. Oh and it has USB, a card reader and flash. There is also a 10 inch version as well. Don't sell your soul for an iHype just yet....

Podcasting and visual poetry

We have been trying out some ideas for some podcasting episodes to support modules in Greek archaeology. These have been recorded in the field. But what about recording a podcast in front of the computer?

I have been trying out some ideas with my poetry. 'Gloucestershire in the Negev' is now available on YouTube; see the commentary (and video) on Caroline at Coastcard: Landscape & Literature. (The recording is also available in various formats for iPod and the iPhone.)

The recording was made on a MacBook using the inbuilt recorder via QuickTime Player. The voice over and images were combined using iMovie. This allows output as an m4v file (for podcasting or YouTube) or 3gp (for iPhone).
